Your First Atlas Adjustment: What to Expect

comsultation

From headaches and neck pain to TMJ and fatigue, several conditions can be relieved using the Atlas Orthogonal Precision Adjusting Technique. Our Fort Worth, TX, Atlas Orthogonal chiropractor, Dr. Chris Michlin, is uniquely qualified to treat patients in and around the DFW region as he is the only Board Certified Atlas Orthogonal chiropractor in North Texas.

What exactly is an Atlas Orthogonal Adjustment and what can you expect during your first trip to Back To Health Family Chiropractic?

What Is an Atlas Orthogonal Adjustment?

The Atlas Orthogonal Precision Adjusting Technique is a gentle and specific chiropractic technique that adjusts the first and highest vertebra in the spine, the C1, also known as the Atlas. By precisely adjusting the alignment of this single vertebra, an Atlas Orthogonal chiropractor can improve a patient's bodily functions, health conditions, and ultimately quality of life.

What to Expect from Chiropractic Care

During your first appointment, Dr. Michlin will conduct a comprehensive exam. He begins with asking you about your complete health history and any symptoms you're experiencing. In this process, Dr. Michlin will perform ortho-neuro and cranial nerve exams to identify if any part of your body is found to be dysfunctional.

After the examination, Dr. Michlin will take a series of full spine x-rays which includes cervical thoracic and lumbar views. The upper cervical views are a special series which allow Dr. Michlin to analyze the upper cervical region, also known as the Cranial Cervical Junction (CCJ). With this analysis, Dr. Michlin will be able to determine the specific vectors which will allow him to adjust your unique misalignment.

In all, this initial appointment will take up to two hours to complete.

Upon your second visit, Dr. Michlin will share the findings from his x-ray analysis and examination. Then you will receive your initial Atlas Orthogonal adjustment using the Atlas Orthogonal Precision Adjusting Instrument. The adjustment is completely painless as it is literally a tap behind the ear. Many of our patients are amazed by how much pain and dysfunction is remedied by such a gentle, specific and reproducible adjustment to the Atlas. The truth is that the position of the Atlas bone is anything but insignificant! This single vertebra so often causes disturbances throughout a person's entire body just by being tilted or misaligned due to its relationship with the brain stem and surrounding tissues.

After Your Atlas Adjustment

As one of our patients, you may feel relief directly after an Atlas Orthogonal adjustment. Once the adjustment is complete, Dr. Michlin will take post-cervical images for you to see the immediate correction in the alignment of your Atlas through the empirical proof of x-rays.
