Frequently Asked Questions About Knee Pain Treatment

When you're suffering from knee pain, you need answers. At Back to Health Chiropractic in Fort Worth, our chiropractor, Dr. Chris Michlin, the only Board Certified Atlas Orthogonist in North Texas, has those answers. Check out these frequently asked questions on the subject.

Why Does My Knee Hurt?

Two common causes of knee injury are acute trauma and repetitive motion injuries. The most common cause of knee pain, however, is not as widely known: misalignments in the spine. When our vertebrae are out of position, our body compensates for it. The compensation can cause stress and strain on other parts of our bodies. Whether your knee pain started because of an auto accident, sports injury, overuse, a degenerative joint condition like arthritis, full spine misalignment, or simply a lifetime of wear and tear, Dr. Michlin provides a host of chiropractic techniques to treat not only your pain but also the cause of that pain.

Will I Need to Have Knee Surgery?

A severely torn ligament or complex fracture might require surgical intervention, but many other causes of knee pain can be dealt with non-invasively through chiropractic care methods.

How Does Your Chiropractor Diagnose and Treat Knee Pain?

Dr. Michlin will X-ray your full spine while analyzing your symptoms, medical history, and spinal alignment. While chiropractic adjustments to the knee joint can help the joint components move without pain, it is important to get to the root cause of the pain, which often does not start with the knee. If the pain is caused by spinal misalignment and compensation, we must treat those issues first if we are looking for long-lasting results. If we only look at adjusting the knee, we may be using an expensive Band-Aid and not addressing the actual culprit of the pain.  Dr Michlin will assess each patient’s situation to determine what treatment plan is best.  We may recommend other all-natural treatment techniques to enhance the effectiveness of your chiropractic sessions as well.

How Can an Atlas Orthogonist Help with Knee Pain?

We are built from the top down. The atlas is the top bone in the spine. It is at a pinnacle point in our bodies. If it is misaligned, it can cause decreased function and pain in our bodies. Also, if it is out of position, our bodies compensate to have our balance centers (our eyes and ears) level with the horizon, which can cause a high shoulder, a high hip, a short leg, and knee pain.

By adjusting the Atlas with the gentle and specific Atlas Orthogonal Precision Adjusting Instrument, we are getting to the root cause of the problem and shifting the entire spine back into proper alignment to allow the rest of the body to function properly. Adjustments by our Atlas Orthogonist corrects imbalances that are affecting all the weight-bearing joints, alleviating knee pain as well as hip, foot, back, and neck pain.
