Pain Management from Back To Health Family Chiropractic

Pain appears in many different forms, but no matter what form it takes, pain can be a serious detriment to someone’s overall quality of life. If you're suffering from acute or chronic pain, Dr. Chris Michlin, our chiropractor at Back To Health Family Chiropractic, can perform a procedure called Atlas Orthogonal Precision Chiropractic to help ease your pain naturally. As the region's only Board Certified Atlas Orthogonal Doctor of Chiropractic, Dr. Michlin is uniquely qualified to offer North Texans specific upper cervical chiropractic care utilizing the Atlas Orthogonal Adjusting Technique.

What Is Atlas Orthogonal?

Atlas Orthogonal Precision Chiropractic is a revolutionary chiropractic technique. The atlas is the top bone of the spine. It weighs approximately two ounces and holds up the head which weighs seven to nineteen pounds. Orthogonal is a Greek term that is used in mathematics and engineering. It means 90 degrees. The purpose of an Atlas Orthogonal adjustment is to realign the head on top of the neck with the atlas perpendicular to them. If this tiny bone is misaligned even slightly, a person's entire body can suffer devastating effects. From constraining the nexus of vital nerves that run through the brainstem to the rest of the nervous system and body to constricting the brain's blood supply, the ramifications are far from subtle. Ensuring the correct position of the atlas bone is of vital importance.

How Is Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractic Different?

Atlas Orthogonal Precision Chiropractic differs from general chiropractic care in that it deals exclusively with the atlas bone. A very gentle and precise correction is made when Atlas Orthogonal adjustment is performed. A Board Certified Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractor, like Dr. Michlin, takes very specific x-ray images to determine the three-dimensional misalignment of the atlas. After the first adjustment, Dr. Michlin will also take three new images to see that the correction has been made. The adjustment itself is extremely gentle. Dr. Michlin uses the Atlas Orthogonal Precision Adjusting Instrument invented by Dr. Roy W. Sweat which moves the atlas so gently that adults say that they didn’t feel a thing and children say that “it tickles.” As the pressure is removed from the nervous system and the body begins to heal pain will naturally resolve.
